Debian 13 installation — quick reference

  1. Create a ArchForge repository on ArchForge and push this ZIP's extracted source. Keep .env out of ArchForge.
  2. Set the DNS A record for status.archforge.nl to the second VPS public IP; open inbound TCP 80 and 443.
  3. Connect to Debian 13 VPS 2 via SSH:

git clone <CLONE_URL_FROM_YOUR_ARCHFORGE_REPO> archforge-external-status
cd archforge-external-status
chmod +x install.sh
sudo ./install.sh
  1. Follow the wizard. Specify targets, optionally add Discord and SMTP and pair your admin authenticator (6-digit TOTP). Real secrets are generated in /etc/archforge-status/status.env and not committed.
  2. Test https://status.archforge.nl, https://status.archforge.nl/admin/login, and sudo systemctl status archforge-status.
  3. Make controlled test requests and verify you receive independent outage and recovery notifications before relying on the service.
  4. Future releases: run ./update.sh as the ArchForge checkout owner. ./backup.sh, ./rollback.sh and ./restore.sh are provided.

Troubleshooting: sudo journalctl -u archforge-status -n 80 --no-pager; sudo journalctl -u caddy -n 80 --no-pager; curl -fsS http://127.0.0.1:3000/healthz.

Offline main website? The already-installed status server still works. git pull cannot fetch from the down main website until it returns, but monitoring is not interrupted.

If the admin installer stops after entering your username (v1.0.0)

Update your ArchForge checkout with version 1.0.1, then run from the checkout on Debian 13:

# As root
bash ./recover-admin.sh
# Or use sudo bash ./recover-admin.sh from an ordinary user.

The repair script updates the installed src/cli.js and resumes only the admin wizard. It does not delete or modify the existing configuration, SQLite database, or active statusserver. Password text is deliberately not shown while typing, then press Enter; use an authenticator app for the TOTP secret and enter the current six-digit code. See HOTFIX-ADMIN-1.0.1.md.

Bestaande installatie: domein/SSL opnieuw instellen (v1.0.2)

Na het pushen naar ArchForge: git pull --ff-only, daarna sudo bash ./configure-domain.sh op Debian VPS 2. Hiervoor hoef je niets te verwijderen of opnieuw te installeren. De wizard vraagt de hostnaam, het publieke VPS 2 IP en optioneel een ACME e-mailadres. Hij controleert DNS, valideert Caddy en rapporteert of de HTTPS-certificaatcontrole echt is geslaagd.
